Spring Chicago Event Recap: Trends for 2018 and Beyond

We had a great event in the Windy City for our Healthcare Facilities Management Forum, Education & Healthcare Security Forum, and Education Facilities Management Forum. The co-located events took place April 23rd-24th, 2018 at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare, in Chicago, IL.

Facility and security executives from leading hospitals and educational institutions joined us for a day and a half of one-on-one meetings, learning-based workshops, and business networking.

Forum Events Chicago

A sample of attending hospitals and institutions included:

  • Loyola University Chicago
  • Whitestone Healthcare
  • Nicklaus Children's Hospital
  • Children’s Hospital & Medical Center
  • Grand Valley State University
  • Jackson Park Hospital
  • East Aurora School District 131
  • Harry S Truman College
  • Faith Regional Health Services
  • Purdue University Fort Wayne
  • University of Findlay
  • New London Public Schools
  • Malcolm X College

Overall, the feedback from our attendees was overwhelmingly positive on the effectiveness of the face-to-face appointments, with 9 out of 10 attendees agreeing that this type of setup was a much more effective way to source new vendors.

“This event was a great way to quickly meet a variety of vendors and network with colleagues.”

“Very helpful and the 1:1 contact with the vendors was great to be able to ask questions.”

“It was a new and interesting way to meet and speak with potential vendors. I also enjoyed meeting with and speaking to other facility directors.”

“This was my first time attending this event, and already look forward to the next. I thoroughly appreciated having the opportunity to meet with vendors one on one and have ample time to discuss my district's needs, and how they could help me. The workshops were also beneficial, because they did not just focus on selling a product, but provided great information as well.”

Workshop Sessions in Chicago

The learning-based workshops in Chicago covered a range of important trends in FM and Security. Brad Hunter of SchoolDude covered 5 education operations management trends to know for 2018, while Kevin Hendershot covered construction and security trends that will affect us in the coming year and beyond. Rob Donlon of Scranton Products kept us up-to-date on the latest sustainable materials available for restrooms, locker rooms and other applications. We also covered dashboard interfaces, repair and renovation contracts, exit devices and alarms, and a host of other critical topics – a total of 10 workshop sessions in all.

Casino Night in Chicago

We also found time to network during Casino Night, a tradition that both solution providers and delegate attendees (as well as the Forum Staff!) always enjoy. We closed the event on Tuesday excited to start planning for our next upcoming events in Plano, TX and City of Industry, CA.

Spring Boston Event Recap: Getting Motivated & Achieving Success

Wow! What a great event we had last week in Boston, MA. We're still catching up and feeling motivated after an action-packed day and a half.

This year's spring event took place from April 23rd-24th, 2018 at the Boston Marriott Quincy. We hosted delegate executives from leading companies across the country including Cheer Pack North America, Samsung SRA, Liberty Mutual, The Cheesecake Factory, Autodesk, Inc., Wells Fargo, and more.

We lead off with a powerful keynote from Randy Fox, who motivated us all with the secret to winning: motivating and lifting up others.

We then kicked off with our one-on-one meetings, the heart of our Forum Events program. Thirty-four solution providers met with executives face-to-face about the latest technology and services to drive business success. They were overwhelmingly a success, with a flood of positive testimonials. Here is just a small sample:

Our workshop sessions also provided many learning opportunities throughout the event. During our HR & Employee Benefits Summit and Training & Development Summits, we learned how to build an engaged workforce from speaker Taura Prosek, how to make our corporate communication more effective during sessions from Merrick Rosenberg and Pete Smith. All-in-all, we held 8 fantastic workshops.

Our Contact Center & Customer Service Summit was also jam-packed with amazing sessions. We learned about onboarding and great hiring strategies from speaker John Stock, the brain science behind emails that persuade with Nancy Harhut, and all about agile performance management and how to turn managers into leaders with Lisa Rueth. “Greatly enjoyed Lisa Rueth’s presentations. Worth the entire trip!” remarked a Customer Service & Contact Center Summit attendee from City of Hope.

We also made time for networking during our networking reception, meals, and gala dinner. Some of our attendees and solution providers walked away with Marriott gift cards after walking away with the most chips at our popular Casino Night! (See all the photos here).

Testimonials Stream In From the Education Facilities Management Forum in Dallas, Texas

The Education Facilities Management Forum took place in Dallas, Texas on April 25 & 26, 2016. Feedback is streaming in from attendees already! Here's what they have to say about their Forum Experience:

"Forum did a great job! Positively was beyond my expectation! Love the layout, the best one I have been to yet!"
- Burleson ISD

"This was my first time at an event like this format and it was great. I loved time with the companies without any pressure or sales pitch. All of them even said to just call and ask questions about anything. Great job by the Forum Events staff before, during, and after the event. Thanks!"
- CitySquare

"The Forum was a great experience in allowing direct one-on-one contact with potential vendors. Having the opportunity to meet with several in a day with specific time frames made it much easier to get to the point and look at specific opportunities."
- Grand Prairie ISD

"The one-on-one meetings with vendors allowed me to ask questions that pertained to my particular facility without interrupting or listening to others who had different needs than my own. The time allowed for these meetings was just right, enough to demonstrate the need for the product without it really being a sales pitch."
- Hendrix College

"Very nice! Enjoyed the event. Well organized and the Forum staff were very helpful. Thanks for the invite!"
- Magnolia ISD

"The ability to pre-select vendors prior to the event made my experience and met my organization's needs. Liked the schedule and format. Employees were friendly and helpful. As my district prepares for a new bond program, the contacts here were great. I also like it when companies bring demos of some of their latest products, as I need to see it and touch it to understand its capabilities."
- Spring Branch ISD
