Event Workshops Include...

What if Everything You Know about Personality Styles Training is Wrong?
Presented by Merrick Rosenberg, CEO & Cofounder, Take Flight Learning

It is Time to Rethink How We Teach the Styles in the Workplace

The DISC profile is one the most commonly used assessment tools in corporations around the world. And yet, while people find it interesting – and why not, if there is one thing that people like to learn about, it is themselves – awareness does not often translate into sustained behavioral change.

This highly interactive and engaging session will focus on the following:

  • Why this is the perfect time to introduce or reintroduce DISC training to your organization
  • Turning classroom-based DISC training into a fun and engaging experience
  • Transforming DISC training into a process not an event by reinforcing the learning throughout the year
  • Refocusing DISC training from awareness to results
  • Repackaging the styles to shift from empty letters to metaphoric symbols
  • Revitalizing training to involve the participants
  • Reallocating time from profiles and graphs to skills and application
  • Rebranding the message to shift from learning about letters to learning skills and applying principles

Driving Leadership and Organizational Agility- The Key to Building the Future Workplace
Presented by Cheryl Jacobs, SVP, MCG Partners

2017 Research on Human Capital Market Trends, reports that building the organization of the future is the most important challenge today.  Our current environment, in which we must build these organizations of the future, is one of constant change and pressure.  The world is changing at an incredible and intense speed, and an organization that leads its sector today, may see its lead shrink or even dissolve.

Agility plays a critical role in an organization’s ability to thrive in this environment.  Agile leaders and organizations foster innovation and evolve more successfully than their competitors by capitalizing on opportunities emerging around them.  These leaders and organizations also focus on developing agile employees and teams, and the understanding that enhancing personal agility will help drive agility throughout the organization.

Many leaders and organizations struggle with becoming more agile.  However, there are barriers to agility that leaders and organizations can work to dismantle, while simultaneously putting  structure and processes in place that can increase their ability to balance change and execution.

In this workshop, you will learn to:

  • Define what agility looks like for leaders
  • Connect agility to an organization’s success and performance
  • Understand the barriers to improving agility
  • Identify the elements that increase agility

Selling People Development as the Core Enabler to Strategic Execution
Presented by Lisa Rueth, CEO – Cultivate Leadership

Pre-approved for 1 hour of general recertification credit toward PHR and SPHR recertification through HRCI. Also valid for 1 PDC for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.

The organization hands down tough goals, the market shifts and the budgets get leaner. Just when we need our most engaged, innovative people to create competitive advantages for us, our budgets for people are reduced: training disappears, people development and team collaboration expenses are the first to go. This session will cover the four types of people development and which types have correlated ROI for the business strategy. When you leave this session, you should be able to sell your management team on the difference between “training” (which might be viewed as an expense) and strategic capacity building (which is an investment that has returns.)

1.           Review a Strategic Planning process, identify where the strategic people investments are the most rewarding.

2.           Discuss the role of leadership and culture if you are going to create game changing performance.

3.           Review two case studies that show how people development was the key enabler to strategic success

What’s NOT Being Said NEEDS To Be Understood
Presented by Pete Smith - Author, Speaker President - SmithImpact

Leadership. Recruitment. Engagement. Retention. Within all of these categories exists one crucial element: effective communication. And the biggest fallacy regarding communication is that 100% of it exists within body language, tone, and words. We’ve listened to someone who says all the right things, yet we leave with a pit in our stomach. We witness how one person smiles at a statement while another person cringes. We’ve tried in vain to convince a colleague that there’s a better way, only to be met with extraordinary resistance. When our body language, tone, and words all seem in perfect sync, why do we still experience ineffective or miscommunication? Perhaps it’s because we don’t understand the crucial distinction between content and context. If content is king, context is God. “What’s NOT Being Said” is not your ordinary session on communication. It’s a fun, entertaining, insightful discussion on how we deliver and receive communication, how that influences our action, and impacts our relationships. You can’t afford NOT to learn the skills of becoming a master communicator.

At the conclusion of this presentation, the attendees will:  1. Uncover how their experiences, thoughts, beliefs and history influence what they say and do in a conversation 2. Recognize their inherent bias in listening, and how to adopt one specific listening lens that produces the best results  3. Learn specific words or phrases that trigger a listener in undesirable ways, often without the speaker every knowing it  4. Understand how best to connect with someone who appears disagreeable, agitated, or simply difficult  5. Learn how to use words that increase team alignment, creativity, morale, and performance

Program overview:

Employees today are seeking career management and career development support and resources and many organizations aren’t equipped with the knowledge, tools, and resources to meet this demand.  In a similar way that leaders are responsible for determining the future vision of the organization, employees are responsible for determining the future of their careers. Learning Objectives:

  1. A career management framework will be presented that can be customized for implementation at any organization.
  2. Career coaching questions will be created to support the career conversations between hiring leaders and their employees.
  3. Participants will share ideas and best practices related to incorporating career management, development, and advancement into current talent management systems and processes.
