Forum Update: Ever Been to Sarasota in November?

Complimentary to all Delegate Attendees

Venue Confirmed:

Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota, FL
November 17-18, 2014

We're pleased to announce the Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota is the confirmed venue for the Total Security Summit, Facilities Management Summit and Contact Center Summit this November. This luxury venue is renowned for its elegance in the heart of downtown Sarasota. Our guests will enjoy breathtaking bay views while meeting with solution providers in a relaxed and intimate environment.

By attending a summit, you will be experiencing the best of Sarasota - with gourmet meals and nightly entertainment on the grounds of the city's most highly acclaimed resort.

About the Summits...

The Summits are unlike any networking experience. The appointment-based strategy introduces attendees to solution providers based on their own personal needs. Unlike a traditional trade show - delegate attendees are seated at their own tables and meet with providers relevant to upcoming projects. Attendees also casually network over meals, cocktails and seminars.

What Past Attendees Are Saying...

"As a first time participant in this Forum - I sincerely appreciate the pace, schedule and enthusiasm of the team! The event was a tremendous help to my company."

"I have only high reviews for every aspect of the conference.  I made some outstanding contacts and will likely be partnering with one or more of the attending vendors. The event was nothing less than outstanding.  You guys did a great job!!"
- VP Security and Transportation, Valley View Casino and Hotel

"Much more informative than tradeshows. Better use of the investment of time, opportunity to form relationships that are more meaningful and lead to partnerships."
- Beckman Coulter

“I enjoy the one-on-one meeting format. I can get more information and explain my organization’s needs in more detail in each 30 minute meeting. This is my first Forum experience and I can’t imagine going back to the old crowded, noisy and distracting tradeshows!”
- Chinese American Service League

“This was a great networking event and the most convenient way to source vendors. It was definitely a personal touch where the vendors could focus on my organizational needs.”
- Lake County Health Department

Chicago Summit Success!

XpertHR meets with a delegate attendee from
DePaul University at the Chicago HR &
Employee Benefits Summit.

The HR & Employee Benefits Summit successfully ran alongside the Training & Development Summit this July in Chicago, IL. We are pleased to announce the numerous testimonials we have received from the combined events and have heard of multiple new business deals that have since arisen.

HR & Employee Benefits executives along with Training & Development directors arrived for breakfast and registration in the ballroom of the Hilton in Downtown Chicago.  Instantly – the Forum team knew the attendees would be a pleasure to work with as all the guests were eager to begin networking.

Following a short but sweet opening presentation – the ballroom was buzzing with introductions as delegates met one-on-one with solution providers! These meetings continued throughout the day, separated by our healthier lunch menu and multiple coffee breaks – all of which acted as additional casual networking opportunities.

Vendors & Delegates mingle at the pre-
drinks reception before the Gala dinner
& Casino
night kicked off.

That evening, attendees met for a cocktail reception before heading to a grand Gala dinner. The evening  was electric as everyone had already made formal introductions and were quickly on the way to becoming friends! Groups mingled at the reception and the party continued through to the next wild event: Casino night.

Guests enjoyed an open bar throughout the evening as many laughs were shared around poker and roulette tables. The dealers joined in, giving insight and creating an electric atmosphere as three lucky winners duked it out to win several bottles of wine.

The next day – attendees regrouped for another hot breakfast before heading straight to additional meetings. By this time – the majority of attendees have met so the atmosphere blossoms and meetings become especially lively.

The event closes at mid-day and is followed by one final lunch. Here, attendees make their final connections before heading home – all sharing the same intimate experience and willing to reconnect with vendors from the event.

Facebook Messenger Trolls on Your Privacy

Fewer than one in 10 people read the terms of services of new applications. This is if Facebook didn’t recently announce that all users are being forced to download the standalone Messenger App in order to send or receive messages on mobile devices. Following Facebook’s emotion manipulation study – users are now questioning their personal security when connecting with friend’s on the social network.

When you download the new Messenger app – you must select to agree with the Terms & Conditions of the install. Here are a few of those permission you are granting the service:

  • You are allowing the app to call phone numbers without your discretion. This may result in unexpected charges or calls.
  • You are allowing the app to send SMS messages. This may result in unexpected charges.
  • You are giving the app permission to record audio with the microphone on your phone without you knowing.
  • You are also allowing the app to take pictures and videos using the camera of your phone without giving you notice.
  • You are also giving the app access to your personal profile information stored on your device such as your name and contact information.

Among other information the app can access on your mobile device: your call log, SMS text messages, contact data and emails.

Report: It would take you the average person 250 working hours per year to read every terms of service he encounters daily.

This sudden awareness of policies and terms of service follows Facebook’s 2012 psychological experiment where Facebook altered the number of positive and negative posts seen on more than 700,000 users’ newsfeeds finding that less positive words would lead to more negative posts. The manipulation of data lead Facebook’s chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg, to admit that Facebook “communicated poorly” about the study.

It is important to note Facebook Messenger is not the first freestanding app to pose such requests. Using any messenger app, including WhatsApp, Viber, MessageMe, are likely to have similar permissions.
